Hi i am having an error problem with my Flight simulator that says' An error occurred while attempting to activate the product. The problem may be due to an incomplete installation of the application'. I was trying to repair my flight simulator because it was not acting right.

The original boot drive that I was using with FSX was saved as a secondary (backup) boot drive. I switched to the secondary boot drive and tried to run FSX. I got the activation dialog and put in the product code. The activation dialog did what it was supposed to do.

After repairing the flight simulator i would run it and it would just crash, so then i decided to uninstall the program and then reinstall the flight simulator. After doing that the flight simulator would run fine but then still continued to crash if i would trying to load in with my addon aircraft's. While i would run the simulator after this would happen it would give me the error as i have mentioned in the subject title of it being an activation error the simulator does not work, i have tried repairing it since the issue has happened, even reinstalling it which the error tells you to do which does not solve the error. I have also even created another Microsoft account which i hoped would work, but still didn't work, Also tried running in compatibility mode.

So could you attempt any flight to make sure that you have installed FSX properly? And try to fly for more than 30 minutes (you can use time compression if you are short of time). If your FSX runs properly, I can give you a possible suggestion for the Activation error.

I have a brand new Windows 10 installation on a new SSD. When I re-installed FSX from my original FSX disc I was asked for the product code. I entered it and was asked to choose activate online now or later. I chose ' activate now '. When started FSX I got error 'activation fail' number 1-80004005. Now I got the message 'your 30 minute trial has expired'!

On the Windows installed a 'critical update'. After this I lost FSX registration and had a series of errors on reinstall - repair attempts. Error codes were 1311, 1722, 1603 as well as the activation error on start-up - 8-c0000006.

Also FSX had reverted to Demo mode with no product ID registered. After a few days of frustration at failed re-installs – repairs (the install/repair always dropped out on the very last stage [Disk 2] at activation, I used Revo Uninstaller to remove all references to FSX in the registry and did a Restore to (the day before the Win 10 'critical' update. After this I had no activation error on FSX start-up and my product ID was displayed, but I got Scenery files missing errors for area 116 -0 120 on start-up.
